So it’s been a few weeks since I did my NHJ styling course and I have been busy arranging dates with friends & family to organise wardrobe edits & shopping days, along with sorting my own closets out which is another blog altogether!! (see my insta stories too if you want to be totally shocked by mine!! 😜)

Something I’m super excited about is a fabulous working partnership with one of my local Independant Beckenham Boutiques South of The River run by the lovely Becky who has has kindly agreed to lend me a few key pieces to style, so I’ve been playing dress up & have posted up a few of the looks I’ve put together.  I also run the a local website, so I love supporting local businesses & I’m also able to return the favour and link to my social media here too.

So taking a few new key pieces from South of the River, I have also mixed in a few basics from my own wardrobe to create a mini capsule wardrobe perfect for the Easter weekend if the sun ever decided to show it’s face, or alternatively a mini break away somewhere a little warmer than London right now!!

South Of the River Pieces

My Wardbobe

For the first look, I’ve taken the Blue Chambray Denim Wide Legged Trousers from the shop & teamed with a classic Breton T-shirt, this one is from Primark however most stores will offer similar and it’s a basic staple that I’d recommend as a must have for all wardrobes.

The eagle eyed will see that I whipped off the tie belt that comes with the trousers and swapped in for one of my many Leopard Belts to break up the blue and to give this a more finished & modern look. I then used the belt as a head scarf, which if you follow me on Insta you will know is my new fav look at the mo! Finally adding the Top Shop Red Sandals and a classic red lip & nails just adds a pop of colour and gives this a little French chic twist. 💋

The next piece is a gorgeous White Brodery Anglaise top, with beautiful big bell sleeves with little bow details on the elbows. As you can see from my pictures below, I seriously struggle to take any photos with out looking really over excited, so apologise but hopefully you can see how pretty the details are!! 😂😂😂

This top is actually a size 10 so a little keen on me as I’m a bit in between a size 10 & a 12. I’ve teamed with the Blue Trousers however would equally look fab with some skinny blue jeans, cut off denim shorts or go for the full on white look as per my next look, if you scroll down.

Now these old white flared jeans are a fav of mine & as you can see I’ve had them for sooooooooooo long now, they’re actually a little off white now 😁

I love the bell sleeves with the flared bottoms of these jeans & I feel it gives a real “Ibiza holiday” vibe & have used the same Leopard Belt which is a cute subtle detail that only shows when you lift your arms. Swapping tan sandals & a tan belt would give this a more hippy laid back alternative option & adding wedges would take this look into the evening for dinner & drinks.

Tucking the White Brodery Anglaise top into an A-line denim skirt of mine, creates a slightly more formal look that could be worn to the office or a perhaps a Sunday lunch with the girls 🍷

Using the same accessories as before adds a little more interest to a very simple look.

This Navy, Lace & Pearly Swing/Shift Top is perfect for the more Apple shaped bodies, a great way to hide any tummies that we aren’t happy with, paired with these wide legged jeans balances out the look and draws the eye down.

There’s such gorgeous detail on this top, with stripes, pearls & lace so I pinned my hair up so that you can see, this also gives this look more of  a 50’s feel and is perfect for when the sun finally decides to pay us a visit.

Finally the 3rd top is this on trend Navy Pussy Bow Top, again worn with my white jeans but you really could wear this with the denim skirt, a pair of dark denim jeans or would look super smart with some navy trousers.

This isn’t something that I would normally pick out, as I don’t tend to wear such dark colours so close to my face however I felt super sophisticated in this Pussy Bow top & would be a great addition to any wardrobe.

So that’s it from me for now, I hope you enjoyed and were able to take a few ideas away for when the sun finally decides to show its face!

All of these pieces can be found online at South Of The River and if you use the discount code ALICE BLUE you can get 15% off on any of these items.

Hi alicE! I’ve Really enjoyed Reading your blog and LOOKING at your combinations. I particularly liked the way yoU styled the jeans belt as your hEad band, that’s such a great idea!
It’s great to see how you can create Many different outfits by combining a few basic garments. Oh and you always look so stylish, I cannot wait to see more!
